A mobile RPG for iOS and Android. It debuted on July 30, 2015 and is still running. It features many characters from across the Fate_(series) franchise, as well as characters original to this game. It combined turn-based RPG combat with the visual novel style storytelling seen in the original Fate/Stay Night. The game was initially directed by Shiokawa Yosuke but starting with Part 2, Kanou Yoshiki took over as director. The story was written by Nasu_Kinoko, Higashide Yuichiro, and Sakurai Hikaru. The game's massive roster of characters are designed by a wide variety of artists including Type-Moon's main artist Takeuchi_Takashi. The soundtrack was composed by Haga Keita and James Harris. The player takes control of a Master named Fujimaru Ritsuka, who can be played as male or female, a newbie to the Chaldea Security Organization. Chaldea's job is to protect humanity from possible extinction events and they quickly face a crisis when they receive a warning that humanity will be wiped out by 2016. The reason behind the crisis lies in the city of Fuyuki, the location of the Fifth Holy Grail War in 2004 (and also the setting of the original Fate/Stay Night). Fujimaru teams up with newbie Servant, Mash Kyrielight, to travel back in time to Fuyuki and race against time to save humanity from its looming extinction date. The game is notably the most financially successful and popular installment of the fate_(series), receiving 32 million downloads internationally and grossing over 4 billion dollars worldwide by 2019, and single-handedly introduced a new wave of fans to the franchise. It was the most popular game on Twitter from 2018 to 2019. It has been adapted into multiple anime adaptations. The anime adaptations do not cover the whole story from its chronological beginning to end. Rather, each adaptation covers one specific story arc of the mobile game, and are handled by different animation studios and crews although all of the seiyuu reprise their roles. The first 2016 adaptation, Fate/Grand Order First Order, covers the game's opening chapter and was animated by Lay-duce. The second main adaptation, Fate/Grand Order Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia, which ran from October 5, 2019 to March 21, 2020, skips ahead to adapt the highly popular seventh story arc of the game and was animated by Cloverworks. The third adaptation, Fate/Grand Order Shinsei Entaku Ryouiki Camelot, doubles back and adapts the sixth story arc into two movies and was animated by Production_I.G. The crew that handled Babylonia adapted its following arc into a movie titled Fate/Grand Order: Shuukyoku Tokuiten - Kani Jikan Shinden Solomon. The game has also received manga adaptations with the most famous one being the comedic webcomic Manga de Wakaru! Fate/Grand Order, which is released on the game's official website.
