I tried uploading one, it says "Filetype not allowed. The admin is accepting complaints regarding this right now.".
Danbooru accepts webp images, which the danboorubot ignores. There are over 5000 webp pictures on danbooru: https://hijiribe.donmai.us/posts?tags=is:webp , most of them are not on gelbooru.
